When Your Best Friend Dies

Last December, my 12-year-old black Lab mix, Cairo, died very suddenly from an especially fast-moving cancer.  To be honest, a year later I’m still devastated at having lost him.  So that’s why I’m happy to have Grief Counselor Bonnie Goodman join us for our show this Tuesday.  An experienced human and pet grief counselor, Bonnie will talk about the symptoms of bereavement and strategies for coping with the loss of a pet, as well we why we so often feel shame or guilt for grieving for our pets.

Bonnie is board certified in thanatology by the Association for Death Education and Counseling, a certification that demonstrates one’s expertise and involvement in the field of death, dying and bereavement, and she is a member of The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement and The American Academy of Bereavement.

I think this will be an exceptionally good show for all of us who have lost–or will soon lose–someone we love.   Join us Tuesday, January 5th, at 1pm Pacific at http://specialpetsspecialneeds.com on PDX.FM.
