Our Staff

At Scout’s House, we believe your pet deserves the best care possible. Please take a moment to read our brief biographies, and we think you’ll see that we have the right skills, training, and experience needed to provide an exceptional level of care for your pet.

Leigh Stevens, DVM, Supervising Veterinarian
Dr. Stevens is a California native with a BA in Biology from University of California, San Diego and a DVM degree from UC Davis. At Scout’s House, she works with our Director of Rehab Therapy to perform initial examinations on new patients. Dr. Stevens has worked in several small animal clinics over the years, and her main professional interests are Internal Medicine, specifically cases involving geriatric patients, and Dermatology. She has twice held the position of President in the Santa Clara County Veterinary Medical Association. She also created the Santa Clara County Disaster Preparedness Plan for Animals in 1996 and was awarded the Diamond Award in 1997 by the Emergency Services Association Coastal Chapter for efforts in preparing residents of the county to manage the care of their animals during disasters.

Krista Niebaum, MPT, CCRT, Director of Rehabilitation Therapy
Krista’s experience as a licensed physical therapist for humans is critical to our work at Scout’s House. Her expertise in the treatment of patients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological dysfunctions, geriatric medicine, and orthotics/prosthetics gives her an especially solid background in treating many of the pets we see. As Director of Rehabilitation Therapy and a co-founder of Scout’s House, Krista collaborates with Drs. Lowery and Stevens to perform the initial examinations of new clients and to create an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Krista is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, having completed the Canine Rehabilitation Therapy certification program at the Canine Rehab Institute in Florida in early 2006. She received her Master’s of Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann University.

Andrea Mocabee, RVT, Rehab Therapist, Practice Manager
Since 2007, Andrea has worked as a Rehab Therapist at Scout’s House and the knowledge she’s gained from that informs all she does as our Practice Manager. Although she still sees rehab patients, Andrea is also responsible for managing all aspects of our daily operational and financial functions, including payroll, accounts receivable, scheduling, reception, and online store fulfillment. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University and an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Foothill College. She became a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician in 2007.

John Bacchetto, Customer Service Representative
John has been part of the Scout’s House family since 2010, first as a client with his bulldog Bowser and then in 2020 coming on board to help with the office duties.  He is the voice you will hear when you call in for any scheduling, billing or just general questions.  After working in retail management for over 20 years, he went back to school and graduated with his Associate of Arts degree in Business Management in 2020.

Lisa Stahr, President, CEO, Founder
For over 20 years, Lisa was an author and marketing communications consultant, writing, editing, and producing annual reports, brochures, websites, and other collateral for some of the biggest–and smallest–companies in the Silicon Valley. Then, one day a neighbor handed her a puppy with many special needs and Lisa’s personal and professional lives changed. At Scout’s House, she puts her marketing and business management expertise to good use. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Davis.
